billy101
Hi guys, I recently started a thread about getting a new alternator as my current alternator is on it's way out. We are still contemplating on either replacing it with a OEM replacement, or getting a DC OEM 190amp alternator. The price difference is what is stopping us right now. Checking the battery lately it's resting around 12.2-12.4, which if I'm not mistaken it should be resting at about 12.6 right? It's a duralast battery that's been in there for about 5-6 years so I guess it's getting towards the end of it's life, not too big of a deal. My question is, is there a better battery I should be looking at to replace my stock starting battery?? Thanks guys! Quote First System 2002 Impala LS 3.8L V6, 128,365k miles. billy101
Sorry to bump it so early, but I really need a response soon as possible...I don't think this battery is going to last much longer.. LoudBimmer
kinetic, xs power all good brands. OEM alt will do just fine if you dont have much money to spend btw, why do you need H/O alternator? you gonna run 800wrms amp.. I was looking at a H/O alt mainly because I'm running 3 HID harnesses along with my system, basically just a precaution. I'd rather have more juice then necessary rather than not have enough...right? Are there certain xs or kinetic batteries that are made specifically for replacing stock batteries? Quote First System 2002 Impala LS 3.8L V6, 128,365k miles. lem43606
depending on what size battery can fit in the stock location, or you can always cut a few brackets haha. but i replaced my stock battery with a kinetik hc1400 and it rests at 13.2v measure what can fit in there and then search online most of the websites will have dimensions Quote 2 Fi BTL N2 18s Fully LoadedSundown Audio NS-1Kenwood 845 HU Clarion EQ4 Juicebox 3100sKnu Wire"Big 3"Mechman 270a156.3dBTeam GG. 6berry
any battery will work for you as long as its a 12v. just pick the biggest one the fits your stock location and budget. i think an oem alternator would be fine if your only running 800rms and 3 HID's since the HID's are prob 55w each so that would leave you at 950 watts Quote 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
TeamHT
I would upgrade the battery first. Get a good XS that can fit under the hood and do the big 3 Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
billy101
I would upgrade the battery first. Get a good XS that can fit under the hood and do the big 3 I just ordered all the wiring I'm going to be needing to do the big 3, in all 0 gauge. What is a good XS battery for my application? I've been looking around at batteries and I'm seeing that NGT Extreme batteries are a pretty good bang for the buck, along with Deka Intimidators? Any ideas? 6berry
to find a battery just measure your stock battery's size and then find whatever xs, kinetik, ngt etc. will fit in that same spot Quote 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
