3-way front stage/deck eq question

Here's my setup: Hertz 6.5" crossed at 80 and 300 using the BP filter on my 175.4

H.A.T. 4" crossed at ~300 and ~6000 through a 360.2

Hertz 1" tweeters crossed at ~6000 through the 360.2

Should I use the filters on my HU still? Or just set the EQ and x'overs to 'through', and let the 360 and amps handle the filtering?

when i was running active the mid n tweet amps where set to passthrough but i had my tweet amp set to hp due to it being of shitty quality and didn't want to blow my tweets

but if its all crossed over with something else theres no need to set a cross over point on the amps

i wanted to try a 3way setup with my deck but it only has 1 mid and 1 tweet output, so i unno how to adjust the midbass with midrange unless threw amp

active is a bitch to setup, ied like to have a rta to do mine tho cause the -db slopes and time alignment are weird, kinda why i wired it back up passave for now till i figure out what i want to do

my deck said 3way active but it just goes tweet, mid and sub, dunno if sub needs to go to midbass and mid to some 4'' or something

i cant get good stageing with a 2way in my truck, but could be the tweet to far away from mid

anyways hope u have better luck with your setup than i did mine :drinks: , active sounded way better but, well im just picky lol

Or just set the EQ and x'overs to 'through', and let the 360 and amps handle the filtering?

i would cut that 4" off at 3000 and have the tweets picking up at 2000-2500 and up personally...6000 seems way too high (before you start crossing over to the tweeter).

i would leave the deck eq flat and change all your settings on the 3sixty.2 only.

Thanks. Good to get info from an experienced 360 user. And the reason for the x'over points is A)The 4's can play up to 17,000hz and B)The Hertz tweets don't really like anything under 3500hz. I might cross them a little differently, just have to play with it. But you answered my main question, thanks man!

No need for overlap

Id start at 5-6k

Maybe even let the 4" just roll off up top

So, 70@18db.

300-350@18db

300-350@24db

5k@24db

5k18db. Hp

Or just hp the mid also and let it play up

So. Why no overlap or cross lower???

Well. First off those ht25's i would Not cross lower than 3200.

What happens when you try to do overlap or cross tweets really low is called ghost image.

You will get several image points across the dash.

Kinda contradicting myself by saying let the 4" play up i know..... But ive seen it do magic before.

Kinda just something i at least try everytime, if it sucks i put it back on bp

Just remember when setting up ta to use a center image track. Not just any old song

Some people do it with pink noise, i cant take listening to pink noise for 20min so i use a few different songs

you could swap out those 6.5s for something meaner if you're only using them for midbass, thats not really what those were designed for... personally, i'd recommend a new type-r 8". just what i'd do tho, my $0.02.

its not super sensative, but it was designed to be a midbass, and i hear its good at it(from a semi-local shop). Comes in d4 and d2 options.

Getting bass into the cabin of a W124 mercedes is impossible.

Current setup:

Temp 1999 panasonic HU

rockford 300.2 for fronts

rockford 200.2 for rears

rockford 400.1 for sub

Leaning towards a 8" in an exponential horn

DAMN YOU GERMANS AND YOUR 5" SPEAKERS!
