level 4 15 box help

Recommended Posts

im designing a box for a dc level 4 15 using torres calculator. the net volume right now is 3.72 after sub and port displacement. im using 2 4 inch aero ports. the port area is only 6.75 per cube but that will increase after bracing is added. I need help figuring out what bracing to do for this box and how to calculate its displacement. i want to 45 the corners but im not sure how to calculate that displacement.

Do you have a picture of the box design? Would help us a bit more. But bracing can never have TOO much. If you say volume after displacement is 3.72 what are you trying to get it down to after bracing?

Oh yeah, and I read 45ing the corners isnt always the smartest idea. Especially doing all of them. Not exactly sure why, but I am sure someone will chime in on that one.

1: Port is too small

2: You can use 2x4´s , all threaded rod, dowels, etc etc

yeah depending on the situation 45s can lower your score. you can also use cut pvc pipe to do it. haha check fecupe's SPL gains thread.

Well I guess punching a woman is a good way to test your strength! You never know how strong you are until you cold-cock a woman in the head and break that bitches jaw.

Next time she tries to punch you in the stomach, whip your wiener out and chase her around. Show her who's boss.

with one 6 inch aero i can get the port area to 8.5 per cubic foot. torres calculator recommends 9-13 so im still a little below where i should be. with 2 6 inch ports the length would be to long to get the tuning i want. this is my first box design so i expect it to come out pretty bad lol. for bracing ill probably end up using some threaded rod. hopefully it comes out sounding decent at least.

8-12sqin per cube is normally recommended when using aeroports. A single 6" should work nicely, and provide you with more port than the 2 4" aeros.

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

3.35 cubes, 3 4in diameter 23in aeros (33hz). You dont need bracing with .75 MDF with that sub. I have used the level 4 15s in a few different enclosures. They are ok at 30Hz, seemed to thoroughly enjoy ~35hz tuning, and acted well at 40hz. 10-12sqin of port (aeros).

box i used dims(28x17.5x18.5 our of .75MDF)
