on fi's website it says 2.5 - 5 cubes...

I have two of them in 7 cubes @ 35... what if i do 10ish cubes around 35hz... whats the difference in sound? Lower lows?

i forgot to mention that ram designs made me my current box and its loud... i just wish i had better lows.I went from 2 18 btl's off less power in 10 cubes thinking the switch to 15's would be louder since i was starving the 18s for airspace.

My first system i had 2 type r's in 5 cubes at 34hz then i remade the box to 11 and they started bottoming out, doubt btls would bottom out but if you want lower lows just tune your box lower. Ive got my single n2 btl 15 in a 32hz box. It hits everything. Although its not your question if you haven't done it yet id recommend fiber glassing the inside of your box. Youll notice cleaner and louder sound especially lows.

I'd say you are starving the 15s as well man, but I cannot comment on how much space they like. 8-9cubes would probably suffice though...

And from my experiences (however small they are), I've found a larger enclosure will have a lower F3

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

Larger box will be more efficient. Generally speaking, you will have more output and low end extension with a larger box, but at the cost of reduced power handling. I think you also lose some of your top end with a larger enclosure.

How this applies to your situation? Idk. Go talk to ram and see what he says.

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.

If you're looking for better low-end extension, then a larger box with a lower tuning is the way to go. You also have to understand that you're running a more spl oriented sub, and powerful low-end is not it's forte. But doing something like 8-9ft^3 with a 32hz tuning should give you a noticeable gain in output under 40hz.

i think im going to go 3 6" aeros at 17" long. 9.4 cubes before woofer displacement

What is a good port area per ft for aero ports?.. im right around 9.... 84sq inches of port.

And also, is there any truth behind resining the enclosure... i always thought it was hit or miss?

Three 6" aeros for a pair of those subs will be great. Port area per cubic foot is kind of a stupid rule, as the port area is more dependent on the woofers being used than what size enclosure you're using(assuming you can drive the woofers to the same excursion levels in each box). That said, three 6" aeros is plenty of port for pretty much any pair of 15's.

i never really understood acoustics... why does FI recommend 12-16 for a slot port, whats the difference if one guy uses 12 and the other sticks to 16 per cube?
