T line for,two twelves!!!

What about 2 dc lvl 5s in a tline? Very similar to this one but if I did subs forward in the cabin of a car, then port forward on drivers side I got just about 48" wide and up to 36" tall and 16 deep, to almost 20 deep

To tune a tline to 40hz ur port lenth would have to be 7ft long.... How tall and wide ur port is depends on the total cone area of ur subs.. Easiest way to figure that out is look up the sd of ur subs... If ur sd is in cm squared...then convert that number to inches squared and times it by two cuz ur running two subs... Then take that number and find two numbers that match ur total cone area...and thats how u find the height and width of ur port... Take mine for instance..the fs of my twelve is 35hz...my port has to be 8 ft long... The sd of one sub is 481cm squared... Wich is 74.55 squared inches or 75.... Im doin two twelves so my total cone area is 150sqin..... So my port width will be 10in and heighth will be 15in... Now,all thats left is the designing part lol. Good luck!

You are really making this harder then it has to be. Kynto is right by using the SD. You can't measure from surround to surround and call it done as its a CONE, not a Flat CIRCLE.

Sound travels at 1130 feet per second. Divide that by desired frequency then divide by 4 to get the length you want. Most people use the fs of the sub to get the frequency they want.

simple, done. It you still can't figure it out stop asking us and go back to 5th grade math class.

Actually you measure from center of surround on one side to center of surround on the other side because the effective area is a flat circle. The depth of a speaker does nothing. The width of the surround moves on a linear gradient (near the cone it moves almost as much as the cone, near the basket it moves almost none) so measuring from the center of the surround on each side gives you the closest measurement for effective piston area.

even more than SD considering SD is the factory (well whoever measures the t/s parameters) measurement of the effective cone area?

Making it less is better if you are unsure.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

i agree. I kno the sd number and number i measured were off by 40 inches basically... So imo go with sd number cuz u kno ur safe...it would suck to mess up a good sub cuz u measured wrong....

for the guy above: lower the tuning the longer the port length needs to be and larger the box will end up being

also as far as ive seen, tlines are used more with lower power applications, i believe its not good to have high RMS rated subs in a tline, so lvl 5s prolly wouldnt be good for a tline, plus you want to be sure the t/s specs will work good for the t-line

i know i was planning on using an 800rms sub and forevrbumpn said even that may be a bit much

Really? Why can't you use higher powers I understand the efficency and yada yada, but no 2 lvl 5s on a 5k or 2, would the subs just unload beasue they arnt exactly in a box but in the port instead

Nothing wrong with using a high power sub, just dont feed it full RMS power.
