AA98hoe
Sweet bro and I charge my 14v batts at the same voltage 15.8 with no problems I found out when driving my steering sensor doesn't like above 15.8 long story but at comps I adj up to 16.8 and charge in between the only bad thing with 14v is it moved me into mod class in meca because your only allowed to use 12v for street classes. UnderLoK
Can the 12k's take 15.9 or do you run the risk of damage at 15.9? Just curious because as a word of warning some newer GM vehicles will start as high as 15.9. Mine starts between 15.7-15.9 on a regular basis. Sorry to thread jack as well, but a 14v battery charges at what, 17volts almost? I thought the 12k was only 12v stable. Where does it protect? How can you run a 12v amp that is only stable up to like 16ish volts at higher? And if it is stable on a 16v system, it's normally stable on an 18v system. So why go 16v if 18v costs very little more and is just that much better? I'm not bashing or anything just curious if I'm missing something. It will charge at 15v. As far as why to do 14 over 16 goes... Two reasons (that I can think of ATM)... 1) Many newer vehicles will run fine switched over to 14 which means you don't need to blow money on step downs. 2) Battery capacity is lower the higher voltage you go (in the same foot print).
