do your thing bro. i would start with electrical, keeping in mind your long term goals at this point will save you some headaches later. if you plan on say running 6k now and 12k at some near future point, go ahead and plan electrical for the 12k. as a rough estimate i calculated about 5k electrical, 4 alts(2000) 8 batts(2000) and wire/bussbars(1000). that being said, you dont have to start off with 4 alts, you could just get the bracketry for it and only run 2 for now, until you upgrade your power later and need it and that would save the initial cost of the extra 2 alts(1000). with that being said, to keep this under 10k is going to be a challenge, but may be possible with good long term goals and planning. also, as a last note, buying all the subs you want initially will save you from building/rebuilding enclosures in the end, which can add up a lot of material cost and time, even if you run them at lower power early on.

thanks for being positive.

I read earlier where you said a guy is running 10 XS d1600s and only dropping to 16v. I don't think you realize that the 16v batteries charge at like 19.8 or something like that, so he has almost 4v of drop.

his volatage rests at 17.5 and drops to no lower than 16...

The point of this post was to just see what YOU GUYS would do with 10 grand. I'm not here to fight about numbers. i said i would like to do a 155+ on music.. its a goal, i never said i was going to get it first try.. I wasnt born yesterday, i know how much work this is, and im committed on doing it. if i have to build 10 boxes till i get the right one then fine by me.

He isnt charging them near enough if his bank rests at 17.5 at idle. They should rest that high with the car off either. The D1600s need to be charged to 19.2 IIRC for a full charge. Your buddy is missing something.

not sure, its most likely me missing something. i just remember seeing his volt meter rest at 17.5 and go down to around 16.3 on music..

You CANNOT compare a 18v system vs a 12 volt system, just for an example it consumes about 800cca everysecond to produce 8000 rms at 12 v.... at 18v it produces almost 12000 rms, and has less dar and you go higher in voltage the efficency of the amp goes up......

And the two people u should be listening are the 2 guys doing 155+ ray and ray (dc98hoe)!

If anything try to mimic their setups

Personally I would wall 4 15s or 18s after you bought the 1000 dollars in wire from suneown, and then 8 3100s and triple alts

Dc98hoe has I want to say 3,alts a 270 200 and 400, and he still has voltage drop! And he's at 14v system now charging 16v

I have over 1500 grand in electrical and I only got a h/o alternator 270 and 7 g31 batts, this is not including the easy 100 feet of 0 guage

I HAVE MASSIVE DROP ON AN SD 8K AT IDLE dual alts would hep me but I. Would still get tripple or double alts if they made it for my car
