Shop Installed HID Headlights

I've looked into replacing my factory headlights with HIDs and even into doing it myself but after looking under the hood it looks like a lot of trouble to get the lights out. I have an 04 Tacoma and it uses high/low bulbs. A local shop will do it for $130, 90 for lights 40 for install and that saves me the trouble of possibly messing anything up because i have heard with HIDs that if they aren't installed correctly. Also since HIDs are supposed to be more energy efficient and put off less heat i shouldnt have to worry about them melting my factory housings and is it okay to use the factory housing? Any other pros or cons on HIDs? And does have the shop install them seem like a bad idea?

hids are easy. ive doen multiple sets and they are about the easiest thing you can do. If you can change a headlight bulb you can do this.

HIDs are very very easy to install. The term plug-and-play applies in most cases. The stock harness connects to the ballast, the ballast connects to the bulb, and you plug the bulb into the socket. With a big truck i'm sure youll find space to mount the ballast. I have 6 ballasts in an Accord so there's always room

Personally, I wouldn't have a shop do this mod.

And ive heard DDMTuning is a good place to get them? Anything i need to know what not to do like dont touch the bulb i know? And if i end up getting a kit from DDM what all do i need to get?

What is an error eliminator and an HID Harness dual in/dual out? Are they needed?

I've done about 4 cars. The first 2 where easy just plug and play. Making sure the ballast was secure and since most are water resistant, you can pretty much place them as you please. The other 2 cars required the hi/low setup where a relay was necessary. With this set up you basically hoop up the pos and ground for the relay and connect your proper wires to the relay to get the hid to function (bulb wires). My biggest problem was figuring out the hi/ low function but after the first car the second was easy. In my case i took the bumper off the second car (01 Sentra) because there was little room and since i had the time i though... what the heck! the outcome was nice bright roads!

if you are not sure get it done by pros... if you want to mess up or not mess up and learn something new then try it yourself... if i did it anyone can.

I thought HIDS put out MORE heat while using less power.

HID's are easy to install. most kits are just power, ground, and a plug into your stock headlight plug. most conversion kits are this way at least.

Yeah i just don't want to mess up and then be out of lights and $100 something bucks and the possibility of hurting my electrical system. I'll keep researching before i decide. I need to find someone that has done the install on a similar model tacoma. I like learning new things and all but i dont want to screw myself over if you know what i mean, Im 16 and pretty new to the whole car audio and working on cars. I like it though.
