Low Idle Voltage, But Little Voltage Drop

All the batteries are resting at 12.8-9. Couple years old, so that seems good.

is there shops that will even flash the computr and raze the voltage? i have a 2004 expedition with a mechman 270amp alt. it charges higher if i have it at full tilt rite when the truck is started. i was just getting 14.5 out of it. some days it will only charge to 12.8 to 13.2.

Hmm could be batteries are a lil low so computer is telling it to charge at a higher voltage. I'm not sure what the regulator reads from and how it changes its charging rate. On newer chevy there's a thingy on the negative bat cable lol someone help what's the thing called

this is what i was thinking. you see when i go full tilt on my system the charging voltage goes up.

you have a beefed up alt that doesnt need to try so hard to keep everything in check. if im right after you rip on it for about 5 mins full tilt the voltage should increase by a fair amount once you turn it down. something like 14.3-14.5 for yours

mine did this once. was sitting at 14.4 then i railed on it for a couple mins, turned it down and it charged at 14.7 for a while

14.5 is the highist ive ever seen it in this truck . in my 2001 expedition same alt. i would sit at 15.2 cold wintr mornings. 14.8 hot.

It's called a dc alt...... My stock alternatoe charged at 14.4 no matter what. In the winter it would start at about 14.7. My 270xp won't charge above 14.1 if its more then 75 degrees out and that's just starting it cold. Once its warm I've never ever seen over 13.8 volts. When its above 85 out I usually dont see higher then 13.5. The alt does work. Voltage never actually drops but its never 14.4 that I though I paid for.... Sucks xs hasn't released a vcm for ford and it doesn't look like they will because I would be first in line for one.
