bassINyoFACE
get a different sales rep bro. that's a bunch of B.S. that you need 17 volts on any amp Quote I got banned for being an ignorant ass....and im a dickhole i like men, michael jackson and large sausages
meade916
ummm no its not BS.....that is how you get full power from some of the soundstream amps like the 6500 for example. (a few other brands too) I think its something like 2500 or 3000 at 14v but you dont get the 6500 till you go 16-18v.. its kinda dirty really to rate it like that since NO rookie or common stereo consumer will ever run a 16v system.....once youve competed for a while and you want to get full BURP power from an amp like that you up your voltage but its not for the inexperienced for sure. zaxfire69
Yep. X2 what Meade says...With SPL Dynamics and American Bass amps...At least my model..IF I were to run 16.5 volts I would get 3000 watts @ 1ohm. But everyday 13.8 volts setups or 14.4 volts...I get 2000 @ 1ohm...Give or take a few watts... So it is not B.S. Check Amp guts on Realmofexcursion.com they have some good info on amp specifications...
Torres
MA audio is also rated at 17 volts

OK let me re-phase that. it is a bunch of BS due to the fact that we, and i'm sure the sales rep, can tell your a little bit of a noob whhen it comes to 16-18v systems and he should have, if he was a good rep, recommended something you can have some knowledge about. a 17 volt system is something probably only a few people out there even run due to the complexity of the alty, battery, and relay configs and even i wouldn't do one unless i wanted to have a full blown SPL system for burps only. i didn't mean you can't a 17v amp rating we all know higher voltage = higher wattage ohm's law don't lie. sactownstang
almost all amps that will fuction up to 18V are sure to make more power unless they are regulated right?
audiofanaticz
almost all amps that will fuction up to 18V are sure to make more power unless they are regulated right? Correct, thats why I stick with unregulated powersupplies like my spl, and american bass 1 ohm @ 16.5 volts = 4500wrms.. now if you drop that puppy down into .5 ohms wow 5000+ watts

sactownstang
The soundstream are way bad if not at 18V At the finals ya XS spl jeffery set a new world record in ss 1-2NW with their amp at 18V But another competitor had 4 XXX 6500 a DC battery (the $$$ one) 2 12" DD 9500G and was not able to even qualify for world finals!! I would not get those amps unless your going to do the 17 volts.... I researched it hundreds of times...move onto something else!!
