Fish Chris
Okay, yea', I set my amp gains by ear. And I guess nobody in the history of car audio has ever got this right, without the use of a distortion detector, right ? Okay. I can live with that. But lets just say we hook up the DD 1 to my system, and it says my sub gain should be turned up. Well what this would mean, is that on certain heavy bass tracks, I could not turn the bass on my deck down low enough enough, as I already turn it to -11, even -13 (it only goes to -15 max). Then, if the DD 1 says my sub gains are too high, I've got a bunch of tracks where I could not get my bass loud enough, as I commonly push my deck up to +13... even +15 on occasion (+15 is max high). Somebody please explain to me how turning my gain up, or down, wouldn't cause any problems on one end of the spectrum, or the other. zx10intn
i have always set my gains with the subwoofer control on the HU to max, then you can gain it down from the HU at anytime to your needs Quote 1969 Chevy Chevelle 20/22" staggered Bonspeed Huntingtons wrapped in Nitto INVO's Mechman 250amp cs144 alt w/AVBM Kinetik 1800 main battery/Kinetik 2400 in the trunk Pioneer AVH-3200dvd Headunit (2) sets of Hybrid Audio Technologies Imagine components up front (2) DD 3512's d4 coils Sundown sax100.4 component amp Sundown saz-3000d subwoofer amp 5ft^3 box tuned to 34hz MY BUILD
meade916
actually, before the DD-1, nobody in the history of setting gains has done it right WITHOUT A SCOPE. Thats the only other proper way to do it. the reason you have your bass at -11 is probably because your gain is wrong and the bass is too strong, too early (as you turn the volume up). You are compensating for all that bass (from the sub amp) by backing it off in the deck settings. i cant really think of any other reason why you would need to back it down so far. Just like when you EQ your system, you really shouldnt be "pegging" it one way or another (up or down). Instead only a little bit because all songs are different obviously. can i ask something.........why are you being so defensive about the subject? everyone is trying to tell you and it seems you are having none of it. I am trying to invite you over to give you some hands on. I am having trouble putting what im trying to say IN TEXT but in person i can physically show you. You can accept or not, i just figured i would throw it out there. Im not trying to sell you a DD-1, hell i will break out my Oscope and set your gains for you if i have to.
