Socky
So my brother just receive his dd-1 and when he was tuning the aq 2200 with track 3 then it was no where near as loud as it used to. Then he tried track 5, and on the aq's remote the clipping light is on constantly, then the amp makes a light hum. He was also wondering how he can test his clarion eq. meade916
the AQ2200 is being used for bass or mids/highs? If its for bass and its not loud enough, use a different track. Try -10db @ 40hz. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong! meade916
oh sorry i re-read, and it sounds like you did use -10. You might hear the amp hum right at the point of distortion but it should go away when the light on the dd-1 goes out. If it doesnt, you might have forgotten to turn the frequency on the amp ALL THE WAY up before testing. Socky
The freq was all the way up, he has done everything the book has said. When the dd-1 is set with just under distortion, the amp makes a humming noise, while the knob of the aq amp reads clipping. We always had the gain set right before the clipping light came on the remote. The amp is only 4 months old. Has a good electrical for it. OrionStang
Forget about the clip light on the knob. Mine stays on most the time and my subs don't get warm. Trust the dd-1! Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
ChevyBoy95
clip light doesnt show clipping, it has something to do with rail voltage iirc. It has nothing to do with the wave squaring off. DD-1 > Clip light. Socky
That makes him feel a lot better. He just wanted reassurance, he was also is the humming noise from the amp normal? It hums right before the dd-1 shows distortion.
