qcbangin Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 i've heard a few times that you can get your true power ratings with a formula using the fuse ratings of your amp. does anyone know this formula? my amp uses 5X 40amp fuses. it claims to be 3200rms, but i know it's not true. i'm just looking to find the range my amp is pushing.

qcbangin Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 thanks for the help. like i said, the amp claims 3200@1ohm, and i'm running an AQ hdc318, and didn't want to blow it. i knew it wasn't doing near rating, just wanted to get a number closer to reality. will defenitely be rewiring down to 1ohm tomorrow.
jmander11 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Does W = V x (V/R) work for those without a clamp? W=Watts V=Volts R=Resistance. I tried that on my Alpine M-1000 and got 1200 RMS... that seems realistic to me? Edit: @OP: What amp is it?
