Hifonics Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Hey guys, I am hearing mixed reviews about the SOLOX 18. I was wondering if anyone had experience with them? A lot of people are saying that they heat up quick on very little power and are garbage, and other say they take every bit of the RMS and hunger for more. Also, are there any sub(s) out there that I should be looking at instead? My build is spl > sq but I still want a bit of sq. 6 cu box @ 35hz and 2600 rms (for now). Thanks for the input guys! Not going with the solox anymore! Looking at what other options I could go with for this application! knowledge Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 solo x's get pretty loud on the power u have, u go over 3.5k and you will start smelling the coil after hearing it for a bit. i had 2 18's and one of them i blew and the other one, the cone separated from the glue joint inside underneath the cone. this is what happened when i put my atomic 7k to one 18 solox, it definitely got very loud but u smell coil fast. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid.
zayres29 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 i have never heard a kicker setup that sounded good... loud yes but sounded like 6cu is a little big for a sundown woofer but with that power i would recommend the nightshade (i was doing to say Z but box is a little big i think) i know for a fact that a single NS 18 can take 20K on burp no problem so for your 2600 rms daily you should be set Btw that was the first person. Ever banned by me while dropping a deuce. Feel privileged
