it is crazy that a 75 amp connector can hold over 300 amps. notice the crimped connections hold up to the heat.

i crimp like a boss.......because i dont have a heat source to melt the solder except on small wire

I think soldering is better. It may take more time but it is a better longer lasting and more professional in my opinion. the only disadvantage is that if you have to remove something like a headunit and the wires are soldered then you either have to cut the wire or unsolder them which is a bitch. But for the most part I think soldering is better.

I prefer to crimp larger sizes of wire and solder smaller sizes, the larger the size the greater the chance they will get hot. smaller wires for speakers, h/u connections and such generally doesn't have the amount of amperage running through them to get as hot. i once had a soldered 1/0 connection desolder from the lug at the alt scaring the hell out of me, so from that point on i will only crimp the lugs to make certain there is no chance of one coming loose on me.

when i make a connection with any thing under the hood i crimp then soldier to help seal it up and anything thing in the car i just soldier i never had a problem.
