i was browsing the web and found some 1000w+ amps for decent prices, but the companies i've never heard of. anyone familiar with these and know if they are any good?

Autotek

Crunch - was already told older models are decent, but not sure about newer ones?

MB Quart - as with Crunch, was told older ones good back in the Rockford days

Power Acoustik

Soundstorm

i'm considering ordering one online but would rather not go through the hassle of doing such & installing it just go "ooohhh.. this sucks!"

any input is appreciated.

thanks

autotek, crunch, hifonics, and mb quart are all the same company now a days (maxxsonics). power acoustik is shit, and sound storm is shittier.

how much money are you willing to spend? how much power are you looking for? what ohm load are you gonna run the amp at?

Old Autotek MM series where good amps, newer stuff is pretty well junk.

Crunch's GP series isn't bad, the rest is also pretty well junk.

Mixed reviews on MB Quart. The Discus I've heard some good about, some bad. The Onyx seems to do rated but haven't heard much else about them.

Power Acoustik is junk.

Soundstorm is junk.

If your on a REALLY tight budget, Audiopipe's AP series does rated for cheap.

If you have a little more to spend Crescendo has some nice stuff, really nice prices for the quality you get as well.

Also if you're looking for 1k-ish, look for a used AQ1200, should be able to find them cheap.

x2, my buddy has a Crunch Powerone mono(2000w) powering two 12s & it gets warm & shuts off after a while of playing & it just doesn't sound as loud as 2 12's should. You get what you pay for.

i was looking to keep it under $200 as i'm getting a new dj mixer also. right now i've got a polkaudio pa660 connected to the components in the doors + the rear pillar & rear door speakers in my van. so far i've blown a tweeter twice & have a feeling it's due to the underpowered amp. i'd like something that can handle all those speakers just fine(especially when i'm playing music loud)

there are subs also, but they have their own amp & that's doing ok so far.

oh and btw, thanks everyone for your responses so far.

you blew the tweeters because you're driving the amp too hard. it isnt because the amp is too small, its because you're trying to make the amp output more power than it actually can (aka clipping). you can put a 5w amp on your speakers and not blow them, if you dont push the amp past its limits.
