I have lucked out the last few years and stumbled across some closeouts on brand name boots that I wear and was able to acquire them a lot cheaper... But I have no problem paying 2-300 for a pair of quality boots that will last me... Last conditioned and worn about 6 years ago. Never did find them as comfortable as others say though. Otherwise they'd be worn out by now. I am fortunate that my employer pays for my steel toes now so cost is truly a non-factor as much as finally finding a comfortable steel toe that lasts. Only problem I find is the selection and comfort for a steel toe that is slip resistant for food environment applications is far trumped by the selection in just steel toe. But even when I had to come out of pocket for my own I had no problem spending more if they would actually last and had some comfort to them for the long days walking on cement floors.
