elastic Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 hi i have 2 15 l7 in ~9 cft ported @ 30 hz and its doing 144,8 db @ 37 hz. my cars Fs is 47 hz. the enclosure should be for music so i dont care much about max spl. but is there a way to get louder on music or is that already max for a non wall setup? (amp is steg k2.04, 2400 watt rms). the port about 4,7 inch away from the tailgate, port height is also 4,7 inches. my 15 L7 build my youtube channel with lots of L7 videos
Purplehaze Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Maybe raise tuning a little? 30hz seems a little low, then again maybe not? Are you thinking about doing another box? Or just changing yours up a little? Kickin' Cruiser Seller Feedback Stage 3 Dash, Door Panels,4th Order wall 4 - 15'son a DC 5.0K 2 DC 5.0K'sSolo X 15 (v.2) Sub Build

loudNlow87 Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Build another box at 35 Hz with plenty of port area. It won't really sound that much different and should meter better. elastic Posted November 21, 2011 Author Report Posted November 21, 2011 Build another box at 35 Hz with plenty of port area. It won't really sound that much different and should meter better. right now i have 93 sq inches of port area. id like to make the current port bigger to about 186 sq inches (same width as its now but 3.14 inches higher) rather than building a whole new box; should give a 38 hz tuning with the same port length. would subs up / port up work better? my 15 L7 build my youtube channel with lots of L7 videos
Red-navi-916 Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 maybe a smaller box? SoCaLBaMF Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Im wondering if the box isnt too big / close to the hatch and choking the crap out of it. Thats what it kind of looks like to me, If you wanted to do that big of a box, port up would have been a better choice IMO. Other wise making the box smaller / less deep, would make it better probably. 2004 Bagged Trailblazer (4)18" Sundown Nsv3s (4) Taramps HD10000s, Taramps DSP3000, Lanzar opti 250x2, AB 100x4 (2)DC power SP 270s, (14)XS Power d3100s, (1)d6500
TeamHT Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Try sub up port up Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
elastic Posted November 22, 2011 Author Report Posted November 22, 2011 i thought about a new enclosure and i want to do subs up port up like you suggested. so the pic shows the box looking down from the roof of the car. its smaller than the current enclosure to get more distance roof to subs, its less high. tuning will be 40 hz. what do you think? my 15 L7 build my youtube channel with lots of L7 videos
