I feel like an intelligent dumbass; DIN removal tool question

Recommended Posts

I have had some fords that the spring clips are messed up so bad the only way was to remove the factory radio face and bend the clips back. Its a common problem with factory ford radio's.

and then the fun begins of dismantling a dash that never was meant to come apart in that way.

push them in untill you feel a click.

Yeah. Fawk those "tools" It's your first time so it will be a bitch but you can reach up from underneath the dash on the passenger and driver side. Kind of a guessing game. You can't see what you are doing but you can tell where you hand is. Feel around until you find the clips. Should easily be able to push them in towards the radio and pop one side out at a time. I've done it enough it takes about 7 seconds to take it out now.

Fucking 01 cavalier dash. Hardest POS ive ever had to take apart.

I put an alpine single din in an 05 ford escape with the din tools, had me on the verge of a state wide killing spree. Wiggle wiggle wiggle those damn things 'til they catch. Dumbest tools ever

Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. New build should be coming soon in a dodge cummins smile.gif

I use to charge 20 for customers with there own attempts ,minus there wreck radio after I pre-warned them it would be hammered. I never even scuffed the dashes removing the face and release the spring tabs with a putty knife ,sometimes going behind them and removing everything is a last resort !
