That coil looks fine i too would like to know this besides the spider looks quite new? unless im missing something... This is what happens when you trust a "reputable" stereo shop that you do business with to reverse mount the SMDs in a box but make the woofer cutouts too small on the bottom to where it pinches the surround upward and then throw a lot of power to them. After the suspension loosened up there was not enough roll on the bottom of the subs and they ripped their surrounds. The coil that got slammed was running for 4 months with a near complete torn surround and was held together with gorilla tape. Before sending them in to be reconed I wanted to see how hard I could push it.. well... thats what happened. Surprisingly.. it still played.. Just one coil was completely dead. I will admit though, for a sub to last through hell for 4 months without a surround and dust cap running basically on just its own spider and gorilla tape... simply amazing. Did I mention that they still shook windows? lol.
