Cardboardcat15 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 CCA=copper clad aluminum OFC=oxygen free copper CCA is less conductive. OFC will handle more amperage. IIRC, 1/0 OFC is rated for 300 amps and CCA 1/0 is only 250 or so. EDIT: Look in the electrical section here. I'm pretty sure there's a sticky that lists stuff about OFC/CCA and the amperage/fusing for them too. My Channel on YouTube. fmedina Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 I understand ofc can handle more amperage than cca. But what I don't understand is why it isn't visa versa. Aluminum coils on subwoofers are made to handle more power so why isn't it the same fact with cca wires.

blkgp_03 Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 My setup includes 0awg 17 foot strand going from battery to the trunk 2 distribution blocks 0awg in 4awg out one for power and ground both 0awg all ofc 16 foot of stinger 4awg ofc red cut in 4 feet so 4 runs of that 2 for power 2 for ground 2 alpine m500 amps one per sub.
