pa-pa-platypus
theres no "gains should be set here"...way too many factors for that This isn't teeball. BassMunky
also last question my deck goes up to 50 when would it clip? what can i check it with? Maxim
Holy shit. 4 volt outputs on the headunit and you have the amp set at 3/4 gain? If that thing ISN'T clipping I'm buying an SAZ1200 first thing tomorrow morning! wtf is lolcats? I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. Also its more bang for my buck, more real estate for my dollar if you catch my drift. its like the Costco of streetwalkers. I was hoping for 150 . I was hoping she would let me put it in her butt
Bmike
to figure your distortion point or clipping point you would also need an oscope or dd-1. 2007 trailblazer lthead unit- pioneer p4300dvd crescendo ft-1 supertweeters pioneer m650 pros audiocontrol 2xs crossover Rockford fosgate p200-2 highsrockford fosgate p400-2 mids1- fi btl 18amps- saz 3500battery- evermax in front, 2 9a31 dekas in rearwires all knuconceptz 1/0 and rcas

Maxim
half way would be safe? To be honest, nobody here can tell you definitively what point you can turn it up to without clipping. Safe answer? Most amps won't go above 1/3-1/2 before clipping. Safer answer? Put it to 0 and order an SMD Distortion Detector wtf is lolcats? I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. BassMunky
is there any other way?beside a o scop and smd distortion detector? Skullz
If the amp is capable of 8v pre-in than 1/2 gain would be close to where you would need to be so just adjust the gain to where you would think that the input voltage would match your 4v input. Now that will get you close but you may still soft clip due to being a tad bit over on the gain but better than way too much gain by just turning the knob and thinking your close. This still does not answer the question of the high pitch noise though, does it still do it or was it a one time thing. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Maxim
is there any other way?beside a o scop and smd distortion detector? I hate to say it but those are the only two to my knowledge that are "doing it right" Closest way I know of other than those is setting your gains with a digital multimeter. There should be a thread on here about it somewhere. NOTE: Setting your gains with a DMM does NOT prevent clipping. It will simply set your gains as close to your amplifier's rated output OR as close to the desired output as possible WITHOUT an O-scope. A DMM does NOT check for or indicate clipping/distortion. wtf is lolcats? I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder.
