SlamminBeats
Is there a rule on how close your enclosure / port can be to the back of your trunk. im running on limited space, so i need to know if i can literally have the port like 3 inches from the back? dont care about the rattles
Socky
I would try to keep it as the as width of the port on the box if not a little bigger. The subwoofers will load off the truck differently with moving the box back and forth. fecupe2001
My suzuki swift got louder when i placed the box (sub up/port back) REALLY close to the hatch , port was something like 12x6 and the box got louder on the meter only about 3" away, same thing with my buddy´s nissan almera, big ass port facing back and he only needed 3 or 4" , but yeah, generally speaking you need to place the box a few inches away Quote I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. EBW
ok There is no magic number that works for everyone, Yes you need it to be at least the distance your port is( if that makes sense lol) but its hard to find the "sweet spot" with out a spl meter, my port is 4x35 but 17" from the back of my hatch is where its the loudest, hope it helps Quote Kenwood KIV-BT900 Front Stage RF 400-4 Runs off dedicated 4 awg ofc RE 6.5 125.5. SlamminBeats
yea im just wondering because my new box is going to be 5 inches deeper, but can only go 3 inches back, so that means its coming inches foward, prob gonna be like 4-5 inches from the back now, port is 5 inches in width though. Autruche
Usually at least half the port width away from the rear wall seemed fine for any setup I did. I personally like to keep it the whole width of the port away from the rear wall though. Just keep moving it around until it seems the best, then fasten it down to that spot so it won't move. fecupe2001
Another example for you, sometimes depends entirely about the car and not the port itself, i´ve tested 4 , 6 and 7 and 8" aeros in my explorer, 80 , 120 , 140 and 180 SQ of port (most of them vertical on the center of the box) and i always get the same results, no matter what the port size or even the box height is, my explorer get louder EVERYTIME with the box placed on the cargo hooks that are about 9" away if i´m not mistaken...
