Mad_Mike
good video. currently my amp does not even get hot and i have bumped for hours straight before? and my voltage does not drop below 13 maybe 12.8 on really low notes. can anyone explain that? is there any way to see if alternator is affected? If you want to do it right, you need to upgrade your alternator. The alternator is what's actually feeding your system, the batteries simply buffer for it. And.. did you say you're running like a complete 250A on a stock 100A alt?? Wtf? If I were you, I'd save the money from loading your car with batteries and just upgrade to a 270 or 300A alternator, and then you'll be fine with probably one single battery(even the one under the hood!). Mad_Mike
So much wrong...just...so...much...wrong... Lol. And Bump4Life: Amperage and current are the same thing. It sounds to me like you need to do your homework on how electricity works.
cal
imo 12.8 is not that bad especially for running an amp at .5 really the batt ais doing the job adding a bigger batt or more wont really help because your batt is resting at 12.8 so in theory it cant get much better unless you do an ho alt to keep up the voltage higher. SPL Blazer
I have a 3000 watt amp wired to .5 running off 1 XS Power D3100 and a stock 105 amp alt, 60 amps at idle. I never see any significant voltage drops or dimming and I've been doing this same set up or more a few years. A HO Alt is always a good choice for an upgrade, but start off with your batteries and if you need more then look into an alt. Some like to think that adding more batts isn't going help and will strain your Alt, but thats wrong. More good quality AGM batts will put less strain on your alt, and for a stock alt thats a good thing. Nathan from XS Power posted the same thing in the XS Power area on CACO. Bump4life
thanks for all the input guys. i miss typed and am aware that current is amps. so overall would adding a kinetik HC1400 or a xs power D5100 be a good idea to add to possibly keep my voltage on bass notes higher. and i am aware that it is only a bandaid but im not going to shows and bumping all day. it is a daily driver. thus i bump anywhere from 10 minutes to maybe an hour sometimes. and for those longer runs o dont have bass constantly on. i listen to a wide variety of music. in addition, that max 230 A is a max rating and only 150 max is bass amperage. the rest is highs only. maybe you need to read up on how electronics work Mike. also all of my amps never get hot and can rest my face on all of them comfortably even after hour of play time Quote Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. SpartanSound
for sure a batt would help just about any system. but i would say get a bat and if you are still having problems with voltage drop then consider an alt. but you sound like you are on the right track. new guy
if you dont want to spend too much money IMO since you are only dropping to 12.8 on lowest notes id just add one more good battery.
