stroupe79 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 i have heard a couple people mention Obsidian 18s as an option for budget friendly builds...I looked into them and 18s are very affordable..just wondered if anyone has any idea of their durability and power handling.. 600rms rated..but I would be looking to run closer to 1700w at 1ohm to one 18..wanted to know if that's way too much for Obsidians and general opinions of these subs.. http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)

Kdub26 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I THINK from what I've heard, they're a decent brand. I'm not sure on the power part of it, if they can handle more than rated. 1992 Camry "Stormtrooper"Quantum Audio DVD/USB/AUX 3.5" single din H/UXS D690Cadence 0g wiring and Kicker 4g wiring(2) Selenium 6w4p's(2) Selenium ST200'sKicker 200.4 (mids & highs)(1)Kicker and (2)Stinger RCA'sSecondSkin in trunk and doors12K HIDsMulitcolor Angel EyesSoon to be done:Big 3Mechman H/O Altsubs?amp? KillaCam Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 Why not just get a sub that can take more power? You'll save money in the long run because with that power on a 600rms sub you're gonna be burning coils up. And the fact more than one person agrees does not make it a circle jerk, it makes it a bukkake scene and you're in the middle Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth.. That1Kid Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I've seen builds where people are running 1k to em. The ability to overpower woofers safely comes with experience, though...1700? Eh... -98' Ford Expedition (Rest in Peace) -AVH-P3300BT -Crescendo BC5500 -4 18" DC m2 Level 3.

It'll def be worth it to buy a sub that can handle the 1700w 1992 Camry "Stormtrooper"Quantum Audio DVD/USB/AUX 3.5" single din H/UXS D690Cadence 0g wiring and Kicker 4g wiring(2) Selenium 6w4p's(2) Selenium ST200'sKicker 200.4 (mids & highs)(1)Kicker and (2)Stinger RCA'sSecondSkin in trunk and doors12K HIDsMulitcolor Angel EyesSoon to be done:Big 3Mechman H/O Altsubs?amp?
