Sheena
so i asked around about putting a XS sealed batt under the hood in my car and i got a few responses. they said that the sealed batt would swell up and be no good because of the heat. (i live in houston texas so it does get pretty darn hot in the summer). is there any truth to this? im thinking long term, with this. like 5 years with a XS under my hood. NOTE: this is not a bashing XS power thread, this is not a sealed vs unsealed topic, this is simply a question about a "theory". Sheena
thats good news. i also park in the shade for most of the day, but if i leave it in the sun i imagine that it gets to about 145 under the hood or higher in the summer Quote 09 Civic EX KDC-X395 (2) SKAR Audio VVX-12 Skar Audio SK-1500.1 4 cu ft @32 (new box and more port soon) Firing Forward not sealed off Stock 80 Amp Alt Big 3 In 1/0 Knu 2 Runs To The Back 1 Pos 1 Neg In 1/0 Knu DD-1'd 13.8v drop
HHR Ed
I'd worry more about a wet cell battery in heat. Sheena
Define "they" i dont think their expertise really matters more than the question does. its a good question, regardless if they know what they are talking about or not. 2007TBSS
While I know we see lots of crazy bastages on here running XS batteries by the dozen, I would wager a significant bet that a majority of their batteries end up under the hood. I think it would be well known by now if it was going to be an issue. CJ18
Whoever "they" is, I would not listen to. Sounds like an uneducated shop that does not sell XS and wants you to buy whatever brand they carry.

I think it would be well known by now if it was going to be an issue. ive noticed this as well but most the people that build get snow or cold temps all the time, the coldest we get here is like 34, then the next day its 97. i was doubting that sealed under the hood would be an issue because of exactly that reason, i just like to be sure though. but then again i have 0% exp in this field so who am i to question someone who has experience.
