2500rms on a pair of SA-12's daily?

this is a very interesting thread here, for what i seen on post here is not all amps do rated on different ohm load, is like yeah maybe there is guys running a sundown 3500 on those subs but at what ohm load for daily? maybe they do .5 ohms for competitions then set it back to 2 ohm for daily. you really need to look into that before you strat frying your equipment. anyways chimmi in if you think im wrong

meh had mine on my 3500 for 3 months, sold them to k3n12ock cause i upgraded to the z12v.2s, he had his on 3000d @ .5 daily, sold them cause he upgraded to XLs about 2 months later, then the same woofers were ran on a saz2000d @ .5 for about 3 weeks which btw took first in class in rookie 2 at tnespl finals

subs are still being ran today, since march when i originally got mine.. thats going on 10 months now, so they saw 3k+ for a good 5/6 months

but normally, a single 2500 has been the most common for people to run to them, you shouldnt see any issue if its clean power

however most importantly, a proper subwoofer enclosure, preferably larger than 2.6 cube box

and this is the lifespan on the subwoofers i was talking about, they're now mine.

its not what i meant, of coarse if you have a 2500rms sub and the amps does 2500rms at .5 ohms you wont have a problem but if you over power it by 1500rms thats when you will have problems plus the subs he has have 2.5 coils

Exactly...the amp will have it's specs listed either on the box or online so you can see what power it does at a given ohm load. But even beyond that, and like beallstar was saying, just cause you have an amp that is rated at 2k @ 1ohm and you've got it wired to that impedance that still doesn't mean you'll get that much power out of it. That's because as the sub moves it's impedance changes, so even though you might have it wired to 1 ohm, the amp could really be seeing 2ohms or more which lowers it's out by itself.....and then factor in your system voltage drop under a load and you have even more power loss.

No doubt.....not really gonna run it too hard though until I get my h/o alt.

Rich, I ran 1200 rms to each of my SA-15's. (AQ3500.1 at 2 ohms) they took it fine with anything above tuning, but if you want to play them with high power, don't even think about playing them below tuning full tilt. They will take more power, as long as it's clean power, and you do NOT play below tuning at all.

Good luck with your system tho man. At the end of the day, it's you're decision. Not ours. I'm just giving you my personal opinion from experience.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for explaining that, I never imagined it would be an issue playing below tuning so long as the power was clean. Shows how much I know. But not sure if you seen it or not, i'm about to start looking for some subs that can handle mo powa, i'm thinking something along the lines of 1k-1.2k rms each.....SSA ICON, IA Deathrow, AA Havoc......something like that, not sure yet.

Don't know if you wanna run DC, but s lot of people are selling lvl 4's and XL's due to the new versions coming out. Plus they're hella local to you. Just an idea.

I had forgot about them....requested a price quote in their price quote thread a little while ago. I'd rather buy new cause you never know if people abused them ya know. Oh, looks like they pm'd me already, let's see if they're speaking my language............

Sure there are isolated incidents where its been OK but im willing to bet that there are far more that it didn't go so well. Its funny though. Those of you who overpower a 200 dollar woofer are the same that run your amps at. 5 daily.

i run 2 sa12 on a sundown 2500 daily banging the shit out of it with no problems.still does 150s on the dash 151s in the kick.i also ran 1 sa12 on same amp in a spl box doing same numbers and clamped power for nspl was 2140 on 1 sub but i also played music with it.but like others said it depends on the setup,box and tuning

I would run a 2500 watt amp to 2 sa 12s daily, but I am also not a noob. Can it be done, sure, if it is your first time around audio, probably not the best idea.
