Bakerman
Okay, so I've built my fair share of boxes, and I like to play low. But I'm doing a serious build and I want to go as low as possible. I've always found the magic number between 30hz and 32hz. I'm using two FI BTL 18's, and the site recomends a tuning of 32hz. I want to try to go low, but i don't want to tune it so low that it will sound shitty and I will be dissapointed. What do you guys suggest? lifted_silverado
I've never tuned lower than 30hz mainly because not a lot of music plays that range. 2nd to have any real sound coming lower you have to have lots of cone area and powa Quote Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. New build should be coming soon in a dodge cummins
skyhighcaraudio
the way i see it it depends on how much room you have and how your box is laid out...because depending on the box shape it may be hard to get a port thats long enough without a million turns in it (so it doesnt get too muddy on you) while keeping you port area large enough to move some air you know? bkolfo4
In a car, 30 Hz is low enough. You also need to look at the design vs. the woofer parameters. Tune too low, and you could end up with a dip in the response just above the port tuning frequency.
