OrionStang
If you've been running a multichannel amp for months with no noise, what would be the cause of noise appearing suddenly? What piece inside the amp is broken? And there is no noise from the sub. This is all theoretical. skittlesRgood
my 1st guess would be the filters (caps). loss of the RCA ground would cause that too. obviously that could happen internally, not sure exactly how. OrionStang
If it were the caps, would a power surge or something cause them to fail? Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

bassrace
I literally just had this problem. I fixed it by running a ground from the batt to the amps. Although I only had my 2 channel amp for a day or so then the noise appeared, but the alt whine would only come if I ran full tilt then turned it down. And it didnt always make the noise then. It was weird but the ground was causing it in my situation. OrionStang
RCA's have been changed, and they've always run right along the power wire with no problems. Guess you guys can figure out this isn't really theoretical. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

bassrace
Remember guys, no noise from the sub. Not a ground issue. I had 0 noise from my sub man. The ground was on the frame and it had been my ground forever and I had ran other multichannel amps no problem. But for some odd reason it just came out of nowhere, and it did'nt affect my subs at all. idk just something to try if nothing else works imo. Edit: and if you have some extra 0awg you could just try it without running it under the carpet or whatever, soo if it works it works, if it does'nt then o well just unhook it.
