Yes that has 0 common walls and usually be unable to bend, it I does it's the same process, just done a little differently.

I always make how ever much I need external when they don't have common walls to differ from having it bend

OK so I am really struggling to get this ...go figure .

My box depth is 16 inches. My port dimensions using the Torres' Calculator is 12.5 H by 3.5 W by 28 L

SO here is my attempt at the math as I understand it.

1) Box depth Minus Back wall thickness. Step 1) 16 - .75 = 15.25

2) Half of width of port minus Step 1 answer. Step 2) 15.25 - 1.75 = 13.75

3) Now take Step 2 answer and subtract if from desired port length. Step 3) 28 - 13.75 = 14.25

4) Subtract 1.5 from answer of Step 3. Step 4) 14.25 - 1.5 = 12.75

So if all this is correct my first piece is going to be 13.75 and the second piece ( the "L" or bend - red part- ) is going to be 12.75 ??

My confusion here is when I put these port dimensions in Torres it says the physical port length should be 23.75 ?

Its hard to explain in a series of equations. (at Least for me)

What i do is draw a rectangle on a piece of paper and label the side and front/back with their length (INTERIOR) and then go from there. Just gotta Make sure your port is THE SAME WIDTH ie:3.5 i think in your case ALL THE WAY FROM THE OPENING TO THE END OF THE L PORT. Take the interior and minus the port width and thats what you subtract from your over all port length. Then make that piece.

REMEMBER WHEN YOU GO TO DRAW IT OUT AND MAKE YOUR CUTS, MEASURE LIKE A MILLION TIMES AND CUT ONCE. haha

K, so your box dimensions are 14H x 16D x ?W. Your port is going to have 3 common port walls meaning that its height will be only 12.5H (14-.75-.75 for the top/bottom sheet of wood). You also say you want it 3.5" wide and 28" long.

In order to have a 3.5" wide port, you need to keep it that same length all the way through until it opens up into the box. Which means that since your box depth is only 16D, you need to subtract .75 for the back piece of wood giving you 15.25" for the port before the turn. You'd then subtract 15.25" from 28" which would give you 12.75" of port that needs to continue further into the box after the turn. But since the piece of wood acting as the 4th port wall inside the box (piece right before the red part) is 0.75" thick, you subtract that from the 12.75" you need to add meaning that the red piece only needs to extend 12" further into the box.

Just noticed that I didn't address how far back the red piece would then be from the back wall and I fudge up my reply a bit...while the 15.25 port length before the turn is correct, that's not how long the actual piece of wood for the inside port wall you'd use is. This is where you subtract the length of the port (3.5") from. So 15.25-3.5=11.75, which you'd subtract another .75 from due to this piece of wood being place behind the baffle (where the sub is located if port/subs are on same side). In the end, you'd have 1 11D x 12.5H piece of wood for the inside port wall, and a 12W x 12.5H piece of wood extending into the box as the port wall (red piece).

EDIT: If you've got spare graph paper laying around, it'd be really easy to understand this if you use each individual square as 0.25" or so and drew this out

Ok so here is another method:

1) On the Torres look for the "Physical Port length" under "Box Stats".

2) First get the length of the non red piece (L1) which is:

L1 = Internal depth - Port width

3) calculate the red piece (L2):

L2 = Physical Port length - L1 - 0.75

DONE!
