How would an 8 like that with a large coil even have a capable suspension to handle the throw??

What I've always wanted to see with an 8" sub is a larger coil of course. Automatically people say the spider would be too limited, but nobody has ever developed a way to go from the diameter of the coil, to a smaller diameter above the coil to allow for a larger spider with more potential for travel.

There are lots of things you can do -- but typically at a price much higher than what the 8" sub market calls for in order to hit good sales volume. I've got a list of ideas for high throw and/or power handling 8s that probably won't make market due to pricing concerns.

If someone wants to make a niche product and sell smaller quantity then that opens up alot of possibilities.

i agree the 8in market is very limited so i dont see much of a reason from a business standpoint but who knows maybe if somebody does do an 8 like is being talked about it may really open up the market to some cooler stuff. my main concern though will be cone geometry on something like this

music wise, which i think is what MOST ground pounders here care for, the sa 8 v2 will be better. and the price of the sa 8 will be much better....

so a triple stack like the skar 8".

so an expensive 8, few customers want that. Only for spl burps, fewer customers want that.

Which WILL be compare to the already respected sundown original 8 which individually already done 50s on some set ups., and competitive price on the new sa v2.

so 135(pre-order) shipped sa v2. maybe add 20-40bux for spl coil. to an unknown 8 im seeing it being pass 200, with it looking like the skar triple stacked 8" with a unnecessary, but only helps; machined aluminum basket.

but I was interested till you said it was 'meant' for burps.

trying my luck with the new sa 8s, goodluck with this project, if you do, do it. and it isnt that expensive ill order a "daily option" one to compare it.

The 8 will be my starting point. I plan on making an entire line of subs from 6.5"-18". I might make a larger version but that's later on down the line. I have a few ideas that I'm playing with. Just have to put them in autocad and get them working in there first. As for the spl only. And the masses talking about music I think it will be better to cater toward both groups. Ground pounders and street beaters.
