Inverting subwoofers

Wheb you invert a subwoofer, do you lose some motor force because the motor is out of the box? Or does the power from the motor all gather at the cone? It just seems to me with the coil moving outside of the box you would lose some output.

The only thing that really changes is the tuning of the box because you're taking the displacement out. Not much of a difference though.

NO change, and you do NOT have to switch phase. only if you are not switching all of your woofers.

I've messed with the phases on the head unit with a non inverted sub and they sound the same so Whatevs lol. Just didn't wanna miss anything

Thats different, that would change every amp and woofer on that output.

What I mean is the "Phase" or polarity of a woofer dictates it's forward and backward movement. If all woofers in a system are wired equally with all positives to positive of the amps, and all negatives to negatives of the amps, they'd all move equal to eachother. Lets say they move out first, then back.

Now, if you mount just one sub inverted, it's be moving the opposite direction of the other woofers, so you'd have to switch the polarity or "phase" of the wire to the woofer so that it moves the opposite way. That would make all woofers equal.

As long as they move the same, you are OK, it doesnt matter if they all move out first or if they all move back first.

what about the sub stage being out of phase with the rest of the system ed? what all does that affect? (or is it effect?)

When you put it that way I understand. So the phase doesn't matter if they are all facing the same direction

Phase doesn't matter as long as they are all playing in the same phase. My car is like that, I have one sub normal, another inverted. So for my inverted one I have the pos on sub to neg on amp, and neg on sub to pos on amp. My non inverted sub is wired up normally.
