I will be running about 2000 watts clamped per subwoofer and I will be tuned probably in the low 30 hertz range. I will be utilizing a single octoport. How much port area do the XL 15's like? If you have 3.5ft3 net per sub, you would want somewhere between 45-54in2 of port per sub. I would tell you the same thing no matter what sub you were using.
Joe X Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 Multiply the net internal volume you want to use per 15 (for a slot port). So for the suggested 3.5 cubic feet: 3.5x16 = 56 sq.in. of port area. should be adequate. This is just a quick estimate though.

I am probably gonna run 3.75 cubic feet per sub. As long as you have the right box size YES, of course a 18 will need a larger net internal volume and therefore will have a larger port area.

I personally like 13-15in2 per 1ft3. a general rule of thumb yes... ideal no 2 12s that move 7mm xmax in 4cuft do not need as much port area as 2 12s with 28mm xmax in 4cuft. its about volume displacement moreso than a sqin/cuft
