Pros/Cons of Crimp/Solder

Could someone walk me through some of the pros and cons of each crimping and soldering 0 gauge wire please?

Cold weld first, Hot weld second

Solders conductivity is low which is why u should always try to crimp, preferably with a hydraulic crimp becuase it will fuse the wire together as one with the terminal. Solder can prevent corrosion so for open end terminals its a good idea to finish off a crimp with solder. If you use solid copper lugs solder is obviously useless and you cant even get it in the terminal even if you tried.

Lineman working on transmission lines will crimp and theres a reason why they choose that

I use solid copper battery lugs and I just solder and heatshrink. Never had one come loose.

Biggest thing with crimping is to make sure your crimps are done properly. You might think it's good to go, you crimp it, give it a good tug, and it holds, but you never know how many bumps in the road you go over, and one of those bumps could work the wire out of the crimp and give you a little problem. Or a big one.

i dont believe it really matters either way. the thing that matters is how you do it. if crimping is slightly better than soldering, but you crimp with a hammer, your connection will probably suck. so do it whatever way you like doing, so long as you do it correctly.
