Help Me Pick A Single Din For The Hoopty

as u guys know i plan on molding a 10.2" monitor in the dash and running a car-puter.......it will have the works. I still feel all systems need a normal deck as well so i plan on putting a single din deck somewhere in the console. Now i havent used or bought a single din in probably 8 years, its been all flips and double dins lately. Whats some good single din's? Pioneer? Alpine? I want full Ipod input on it and hopefully send the display out to the 10.2" monitor as well.........i know some pioneers can do that but its been a minute since i looked into it.

so anyway whats a respectable deck these days? preferably one that also plays DVD's...

your computer can play the dvds.

Are you only needing the deck for the iPod?

edit: i reread your post, you want it as a backup source.

I suggest an eClipse cd7100. I just bought an cd7000 over the weekend, so far im loving it

you can look into the alpine that just links to your ipod. I saw that one the other day and thought it was pretty tight . As far as one that will link to the screen. Are you trying to get the video to show up on the screen too? You'd need a video out on a head unit and unless it plays dvds I would think youd have a hard time finding one. Maybe the single din JVC with the 3.5 inch screen on it?

i know i can use the carputer for dvd but im trying to decide if i want to mount a dvd player for a computer in the dash or not.....it will have one on-board but it wont be convenient to just pop a dvd in unless i put another (usb possibly) in the console or dash. I probably will end up doing that now that i think of it.....

pretty cool but that knob in the middle is annoying and it doesnt play cds FTL...
