I have one in my PT, and I love it! Got a reversing camera hooked up to it, and it comes on when you put the car in reverse, and goes back off when you take it off. And it also has 2 inputs, so it can double as a regular monitor for those movies you may wanna watch. Here is a pic. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. Any way you decide is gonna be really nice for sure! Personally, I would go with #2, and add on this rearview monitor, but that's just my $.02. scooter99 Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 Well it's a good idea, but I already have a monitor in my possession. I don't want to buy another one, and then try to sell this one. I do like the idea though. I wonder if I could do two reverse cameras, one down low for backing up, and another one off the back of the cabin, maybe out of the cargo light, for driving. Gives me the same angle as a rear view mirror would except it's a camera instead of a mirror. Then I can pull the rear view mirror all together, cause lets face it, it's a rattle trap anyway, then do a pod that holds the 7" monitor up there. Gonna be some boring stuff to start, deadener, so I may not post much in the way of pics for that. You've seen a deadened vehicle you've seen a million! So hopefully the build will start next weekend. I'll get it gutted, deadened and the center seat out and ready for the center console base build. So very soon this monster will start! So like it would stay on the regular rear view mode all the time, then when I reverse it, it would go to the other mode. I wonder if I could do that on one setting and use a relay to make it work like that. Ok guys, see if you can follow along. The rear view cameras have an analog rca plug on them. I'm pretty sure I only have one of those inputs on the monitor. SO, I'd splice them together, to make one rca to the monitor. Then, they both have ignition or power cables. Obviously the one for back up would go to the reverse light wire to operate only when the reverse light is on. Then the one that would be acting like the rear view mirror, would be on all the time. Now, how would i wire it up to a relay so that when the truck goes into reverse, it trips the relay, turning off one camera, then turning on the other one. If you wire it up the right way, then it should just flip by itself, the key is to not splice them into one, buy a rca box so the box knows when to turn on which one, Radio Shack has them, or frys electronics 2001 Ford Expedition 2 SA 12's Crescendo 2000 M.E.C.A. 141.4 DB
