Cardboardcat15
Looks great so far, bro! Think you want to tackle my doors next? LOL I'd be afraid to touch nice looking doors like yours! Just spent the last hour going threw the whole build...pretty nice, you can take everything you do and learn from it. My goal for my build was to do hair tricks with a single 15 for a trunk build and i have done it. So I plan on doing a wall soon. Thanks man, that's exactly my goal. Everything is a learning experience for me. Hopefully I achieve my goals with this next build! Tell me about the 64 in your garage?!?!?!? And your door pods look good Lmao, it's actually my sisters boyfriends car. Sister bought a house and I pay her rent to live here, that's it's dedicated garage. On switches and everything. aps01
i see you're getting there!just get it really good sanded down so that it will fit like it was factory built (where the panel meats the factory door panel).also make syre to use a lot of screws from the back of the factory door panel to the speaker panel to brace it on because they tend to crack a lot from the extra weight. Cardboardcat15
Okay. Before I start, I want to say this. I will never again in my life willingly wrap anything in vinyl. God this was such a pain in the ass. Didn't even come out nice, but whatever. First time for everything. Since I used an under armour shirt to shape these, the walls were very thin. I wasn't sure if 2-3 coats of resin alone would be enough to make the enclosure strong enough, so I experimented with the left over 26oz mat I had. Shit is way thick. This area I couldn;t get to from the inside, so I had to tackle it from the outside. Also did it on the insides for reinforcement. (On both panels) Nice and hardened After some sanding It was time for me to make the stupidest mistake I;ve ever made in my short time installing Audio equipment. Vinyl. What the vinyl looks like. Closest I could get to stock from the local upholstery guys. Nice and sanded Wrapped with the this cushion layer. Fuck this shit. Driver side. Bottom right corner is all fucked up, but no one will really see it. Had some help wrapping this one,. Passenger side. All done. (FINALLY) Tweeter pods. 2 layers of 3/4 birch because Pyle tweets are fat and I suck at measuring. Driver side all done. the mounting rings for the tweeters and the spacers for the 8's will be (uhg) wrapped sometime in the future. I'm too tired and pissed off to wrap them now. Plus I'll be using a lighter grey vinyl to wrap those pieces, which I didn't think about at the upholstery shop. Anyway, I start winter quarter this monday, so this will probably be the last thing to happen until spring break. Thanks for looking! My Channel on YouTube. Cardboardcat15
Thanks guys, I tried to make them look at least halfway decent. Do you still hav the shifted SE motor? Ill take it off your hands:) lol Cant wait to see what you come up with have you thought about a 4th order? Your 15 would love that lol Thanks, and no man. That motor is long gone LOL Next time do multiple layers of thinner mat, that heavy stuff can be hard to work with Looks good Normally I do that, but I have this stuff left over from my wall build (lots of it) and I haven't had any issues yet using it. Trying to get rid of it lmao I must say though, I'm very impressed with these pyle products. The 8's are loud as shit but have a good amount of warmth at lower volumes. I sat in the car today for half an hour just listening to some of my music. Only 2 8's and one tweeter are playing ATM, but man does it sound great. The 8's handle very well, and the tweeters are crisp and clear. Higher volumes are great. Little distortion and only with 3 speakers working, they disperse very well. I may however be looking into scrapping 2 of the 6's as they are firing into the seats. ALso, I might have to replace the 6's some time soon with sealed back drivers. My Channel on YouTube.
