FCsteve Posted December 21, 2007 Report Share Posted December 21, 2007 fosho when using good wood glue it will not come apart when dried/cured because it forms a chemical bond now. shit i have tried ripping apart some of my boxes and when it does come apart it doesnt come apart where the glue joint is shit is tough x2 .. i ripped apart a box i made for my backseats and when it finally did break all the joints were together. the mdf around them was broken to shit. I use maybe 4 screws per side, then just brads, and titebond II (worth its weight in gold IMO). Fiberglassing pretty much ensures it wont come apart no matter what though (well if u do it correctly anyway) for most standard, toss in your trunk type boxes, i just use nails and wood glue.....i use screws but very few.. A lot of people make the mistake of putting 10000 screws in a box when the extra screws are unnecessary and may actually weaken the joint.
