I have heard using too many screws makes your joints weaker. I use maybe 4 screws per side, then just brads, and titebond II (worth its weight in gold IMO).

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

I just countersink the holes and fill over them with wood filler.

x3

You dont even wanna know how much glue/screws were in my box for the wall with the BTLs. You would shit yourself.

I dont see any reason not to use screws..... Just put a couple in just to be sure. Cant hurt anything.

oh ya, screws have their place.......just depends on the situation. For the most part, the glue is doing all the work. Fiberglassing pretty much ensures it wont come apart no matter what though (well if u do it correctly anyway)

for most standard, toss in your trunk type boxes, i just use nails and wood glue.....i use screws but very few..

My favorite tool for this job is a narrow crown stapler. 1 1/2 inch staples. its incredible!

I have heard these work very well. I might have to give them a try.

With a sub box the glue is what holds it together, not the screws. A lot of people make the mistake of putting 10000 screws in a box when the extra screws are unnecessary and may actually weaken the joint.
