wennington99
was wondering the following, I may have an opportunity to purchase one of the following amps used at a good price, JL Slash 500/1 or 1000/1 if I turn down the gain half way on the bigger amp, will it still strain my electrical more than the smaller one? TrentonLong
probably not but it would be best if you did upgrade your alt and do the big 3 Edited April 21, 2012 by TrentonLong
Team_DC-Derrick
the gain does not work like a volume knob where if its fully up it gives out the power it states, it could be a quarter of the way turned up and produce full power, it depends on the output voltage of the head unit.. so having it at half could still be producing full power... KC_Burban
If you do your big 3 it should be enough for the jl1000/1 it also depends on what impedance you have yours subs wired too. If you have em wired too 1 ohm at the amp its might be a little tougher on your electrical system, but at 2 ohms itll be running a lot more efficient. Guest
just get the 1000. unless your alt is like 60 amps, it'll be perfectly fine. just do the big 3 and watch your voltage.
