Class D for SQ mid amp?

It seems more and more mid amps are going class D which makes little sense to me aside from cost cutting. Was looking at the Pioneer SDP-800(?) 125w/ch but it's class FD(WTH is that?) and that is supposed to be Pioneer's reference level gear. I don't have an unlimited budget, so most Focal/Audison/Marconi level amps are out.

Just wondering your thoughts, if I should be concerned about class D at all.

Thanks.

Should be fine for every day music ... depending on how or what you call "every day music" ...

But for "Sound Quality music" or "Sound Quality competition" ... I'm Class A/B all the way !!! and will never change ...

As far as SQ goes I only notice the difference between Class D and Class A/B amps at higher volumes and when pushing tweeters. Older Class D amps have nothing on Class A/B amps retro and modern. I'd look at the new Soundstream Reference line's 2-channel and beefy 4-channel units for a solid Class A/B mid amp at a good price, I love mine, I have a couple older ones and they sound just as good but no better, really.

I'm gonna hate

Found no Pioneer SDP 800 in the net. From your OP post i dont know what you need 2 channel or 4 channel.

This is a nice SQ amp, next offer is 40 $ higher.
