audio1der
It seems more and more mid amps are going class D which makes little sense to me aside from cost cutting. Was looking at the Pioneer SDP-800(?) 125w/ch but it's class FD(WTH is that?) and that is supposed to be Pioneer's reference level gear. I don't have an unlimited budget, so most Focal/Audison/Marconi level amps are out. Just wondering your thoughts, if I should be concerned about class D at all. Thanks. 8ight
As far as SQ goes I only notice the difference between Class D and Class A/B amps at higher volumes and when pushing tweeters. Older Class D amps have nothing on Class A/B amps retro and modern. I'd look at the new Soundstream Reference line's 2-channel and beefy 4-channel units for a solid Class A/B mid amp at a good price, I love mine, I have a couple older ones and they sound just as good but no better, really. I'm gonna hate
