Wicks
While I was rewiring my subs, I had some trim panels off which gave me a chance to run some rubber cord in the gap around my LED's on the sub baffle. Haven't tested it out yet but it should help block any leaking light from around the edges. Other big news! My Kenwood DNX6990HD is SOLD... Time for some dash fabrication........ Wicks
Had a wad of cash in my pocket from the sale of the Kenwood so I headed over to the Verizon store to do some shopping My slow, crappy iPhone4 was in need of an upgrade too so I upgraded that as well. 16GB iPhone5s 32GB iPad Mini with Retina Display No I'm not an Apple fanboy, I just have all my music in iTunes and there are a lot of accessories which couple with Apple products so I went with it. Guess where the iPad Mini is going....? I've been watching a lot of Soundman YouTube videos and got intrigued so here we go! The silver trim along my dash is actual brushed aluminum...and expensive The center trim piece needed some heavy modification so I went and bought a replacement piece that is plain plastic. Here's a test fit. I bought the iPad Mini Side-Slider kit, here is the first mockup on the dash. I liked the float-mount kit better but I wanted the ability to charge the iPad, especially for long road trips so the Side-Slider kit was a better option. The trim piece needs some trimming The template is a bit large and also needed some trimming. Adding some bracing material to the sides of the Slider template and almost ready for some CA glue and body filler. Should be a perfect fit when its all done. For those curious, The iPad will be hard wired to a Cambridge Audio iD100. The iD100 will take the digital signal from the iPad and convert it to optical (still digital). Then I'm going to run a long optical cable to my trunk where the signal will be fed into my Fosgate 360.3 for all the processing. Then short differential RCA runs to my amps. Good bye alternator whine....... Soundman uses the Pure i-20 converter module for the optical signal but after buying one and digging around, it doesn't support the iPad Mini w/ Retina display which I really wanted. I emailed Cambridge and apparently it supports the music stream which is all I need. :fingers-crossed: Its coming in the mail so I'll see how it does in the near future. Anybody interested in a Pure i-20?
