What is it about playing under tuning?

Recommended Posts

It's almost like free airing it, you will reach any subs mechanical limits much faster playing under your tuning. You probably bottomed out the coil.

playing under tune causes the sub to unload ,maxing out excursion= hard on spiders, surround, voice coil if it bottoms , during this the cone can distort ,tear, hit the winding

glad to see you made it to the forum.. i had a feeling you would chime in on this. there are some real knee slappers that happen in this sub forum.. so be prepared.

I played this sub under tuning fairly regularly, but it barely moved with the amount of power I had on it. And my set up has been o scoped and everything, minimal clipping on the sub. I don't understand how it separated..

ive seen alot of hdc coils go bad on low power

i have 2 burnt coils in the closet 1 died on a cadence 1200w and the other died on maybe 1400w

both coils came unwound

and 1 of them ripped the triple joint

in my book AQ or should i say SOUNDQUED uses ultra cheap softparts n material

Cause its not moving enough to cool itself off on low power.

Maybe youve had bad luck with them, my friend is running two hdc3 12s copper coils on a 3.5k and they take the power just fine, box isnt small either tuned to 30hz. Box was designed by bassheadsent.
