rockfordbasst1
okay so i bought 2 t1 12" rockford fosgates from a guy in a huge custom box with a power acoustik crypt series cptd1 2200d mono block for 300 bucks.i went to my local audio store just to look around and they wanted to see my system, idk if they were trying to sell stuff or what but he said my amp is underpowering my subs by alot and i need a much larger one.i understand rms, peak and all that stuff, but im lost when it comes to ohms, and such.i have no idea what my ohms are on my subs, and it would help a lot if i knew or if one of u guys could steer me in the right direction with what i should get for an amp or if i should keep the amp on it.the box has 4 wires coming from the back 2- and 2+ so i have the negatives twined together in the -port and the 2 positives tied together in the positive port.can anyone tell me what my ohm wiring is or do i need to take the subs out to look or what.im totally lost here and need some help.these things sure do hit hard to be apparently underpowered. The subs are the older style t1s the silver ones. Hotdog
Get a multimeter and test your speaker wire leads. No one can tell you what your Ohm load is. It could be a dual 2 ohm sub or a dual 4 ohm sub Dual 2 ohm would be either 8ohm or 2 ohm or .5ohm Dual 4 ohm would be either 1ohm or 4 ohm or 16 ohm Edited June 5, 2012 by Hotdog Quote (NEW) 2004 F-150 Build Log -->http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192208-hotdogs-f-150-build-log/ 2003 Mercury Mountaineer Build Log --> http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/114380-hotdogs-2003-mountaineer-build-log-20-removed/page__gopid__1602379#entry1602379 2008 Equinox Build Log --> http://www.stevemead...g/#entry1475764
rockfordbasst1
alright ill do that.i am also wondering can it hurt the subs to be underpowered and are they being underpowered. i mean the amp is 1300 watts rms at 1ohm i think,if they are plugged into that 1300 watt channel doesnt that mean they are getting 650 watts a piece if they are wired at 1ohm??idk if this helps any but it has 4 wires coming out the back Edited June 5, 2012 by rockfordbasst1

RooTxBeeR
Why dont you just get a screw driver, take the subs out, and look at the bottom of the magnet, I will put money down that it says right on it what Ohm they are. alaskanzx5
take the subs out and look at the bottom of them. right on the bottom of the magnet it might have the info for the sub. if not the bottom of the magnet then maybe the side of it. also a picture of how the subs are wired inside the box would help us tell you the ohm load its wired at. littlebuck1919
ive only seen one power acoustik amp that actually made sense on the power ratings...u might not be getting 1300 watts from that amp :/ and i havent heard of underpowering them hurts them, as long as ur not clipping, it shouldnt matter much if u run 200 watts to each or 1200 watts to each, as long as ur not clipping, it shouldnt hurt them Quote Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/152368-littlebuck1919s-feedback/#entry2177586 i think you'd stick your dick in a blender if it told you it was 40 wtih two kids your age. lol 6/18/82 - 4/17/12 R.I.P. to my sister Shana
JR2011bu
I'm with rootxbeer easiest way to find out is to pull out woofer and see printed label. Sometimes coil impedance is engraved on coil itself. rockfordbasst1
well i got to looking and my fuses in the back of my amp are 30a not 60a if that says anything about the power?also i have a 4000 watt spl capacitor,my multimeter says 1ohm when i hook them up to my wires.in each port, but im still wondering the audio shop said something was wrong with my system because it shuts off when i crank it up too loud and my subs are turned up alittle.i just think its cause my alternator is only 60amp?am i right or what,i mean i dont want to mess up the amp or subs, and i dont think they are clicking whatever that means.it gets pretty freaking loud past about 15 or 16 on the head unit and my sub level is at 0. but when i turn em up to about 20-25 my whole head unit and everything shuts off even when my trucks on?is it just my small alternator???any help would be appreciated plz. thanks.josh Edited June 6, 2012 by rockfordbasst1
