Bridge a powerful 2-channel amp.

The DD S2b is rated at 1600 bridged @ 4 ohms and 2700 @ 2 ohms.

http://www.ddaudio.c...series/s2b.aspx

Anything high end at around 400w x 2 should bridge to around 1500 watts.

It's going to be very costly on your electrical though, as most of these types of amps are class AB.

lol what? i've never heard of this theory before. since when should "high end" amps output twice their rated power when bridged?

will they require higher amperage as opposed to a class d running at 1600 rms?

Class A/Bs are high voltage amps ... Class D amps are High current amps ... They will pull load ampreage about the same ... depending on the amp quality ...

how exactly does an 800 watt amp become a 1500 watt amp when you bridge it?

OP-the gain to cost benefit is going to be ridiculous here. You will see a minimal drop in distortion (most likely not even audible) and a minor increase in efficiency. Now ever, if you can't support 1500 watts @1ohm the efficiency increase going to 1500 watts @4ohms won't be enough to help.

Most Class A/B amps back in the day rated their amps at about 20 to 40 percent of their capabilities at 50 htz to where everyone now rates power at 1000 htz ... who here has ever seen a bass amp play tones at 1000 htz on a daily setup ...

You would be suprised at what a class A/B amp can do for subs (Musically) ... I'm not talking about hair tricks and burps ...

I can add to the Class A/B Doing for subs. For the longest time I had my 2 10's on a Alpine MRV-F250, I have to say they sounded the best off that compared to either MB Quart amp I have in my car now. They sounded AMAZING! it was only outputing 70 watts in total, and how hard it hit is damn easily comparable to the same subs on an MB Quart FX1.600 running 300 watts in total.

I don't think the difference you would notice (doubt it would be any) would be worth the much higher cost of the amp you'd need. People talk about the difference in damping factor between 1ohm and higher loads, but the difference to your ear will honestly be little to none.
