SmallTruk
i was thinking about this today. setting them with the engine running will have a slightly different result vs with the engine off due to the voltage difference. in my mind it seems like setting with the engine off would be better due to the decreased risk of clipping since the voltage the gain was set at will be closer to that seen when voltage drops down. what you guys think? bassface
Shouldnt make a difference because the head unit voltage isnt affect by the car being off or on.

ricksi30
Set them with the car on if that is how you will play your system. Hu voltage won't change but voltage to your amps will. When I think about it I guess it doesn't matter as has already been said. White Lightning
if there is a difference (when tuning ... not massive jamming) with the voltage when the engine is on or off ... you have a problem ... SmallTruk
if its tuned with the car off and voltage lower then wouldn't it compensate for voltage drop, kinda like giving you headroom when you set the gains for 12.x volts but the car runs at 14? Lbox88
This has been asked. This has been answered by Tony. Do it with the engine off. Quote UBL | Build Log

Lbox88
Tune with the car off. The difference is less than 1dB of gain overlap and has already been factored in because the amplifier is unloaded when the speakers are disconnected. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/135714-tuning-while-car-is-off/ Quote UBL | Build Log
