kickass audio
Dont get CCA, get OFC cable. It handles current better and tbh it only costs a little more and is worth it. I have tsunami competition OFC wire for my entire big-3 upgrade and it is 99.999% tinned copper wire. The only problem with it is the jacket is stiff so its hard to route around but all i do for that is throw my wire on the back roof of my shed and let it sit in the sun for a hour and it bends with ease when warm. Rockford Fosgate wire is another one i use and it is also great too. The price for KNU wire and their strand count is where its at. This is the wire you should really consider getting: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX0BK Their KCA lineup will get the job done but the OFC makes a better connection and transfers more power. b-dubs89
%100 copper good , cca better than nothing . if you don't need alot of cable spend the money on copper if budget is in mind . cca is ok my preference is just copper , copper coated in tin is good cable too i have the rfk1d amp kit and rf's big cable is nice Edited June 21, 2012 by b-dubs89
ALPINE408
Your gonna get the guys that say only ofc but big 3 is short runs the cca is just fine for that you can almost run double the rated current in wire in short runs Also the whole OFC thing is a crock of shit there is no such thing as oxygen free copper was it manufacured in a vacume sealed room? No and if it was once you cut into it its not oxygen free anymore now is it Should be just copper wire Quote Have you ever had your woofers blown? kickass audio
For your budget as much as i hate to say this hit up your local shop and see if they have some RF, Tsunami, old school audiopipe (their old lineup was a lot better than their current wire plus it was OFC, now its that CCA crap) and see if they can cut you a deal. I have a pretty good friendship with 3 local shops around me and i get some damn good deals from them. Tarball
IT really comes down to how much power you are going to run through the wire. If its a small to moderate system you should be able to "get away" with CCA. But I would use OFC KNU. For a standard big 3 you don't need much wire and it doesn't make sense to go cheap on a major part of the electrical system. I am all about saving money but part of being frugal is spending money on the right stuff the first time. ALPINE408
Funny I know of a couple 160+ cars useing only CCA wire but I see 1 million and 1 little 140db guys swear cca is so bad Yes the 160 guys have more wire to make up for the cca current draw backs still a shit ton cheaper when you have to run that much wire Quote Have you ever had your woofers blown? If you aren't going to upgrade at all in the future then this is a great idea, but...do it right the first time. I bit the bullet and paid for 1/0 gauge fosgate wire in case I upgrade my system in the future. I'd rather do the big 3 once and be done with it. and whaddayaknow... I'm upgrading right now lol Quote My Red zx2 Build Log My Black zx2 Build Log My Red zx2 UBL
