RCP Audio
I'm looking at upgrading my subs to something that can take more power, But the question is is will i be better off running my current amp (soundmangus dk1800) at 1 ohm (1800w rated). or should I get a second amp, the same amp, and run both at 2 ohms (1000w rated each) the subs will be able to take the power as ill be buying them depending on what amp(s) i go with. Will the voltage drop be worse running at 1ohm over having two amps wired higher? I know a single amp is easier and what not but id love to have two amps, gives me more options IMO PSN: Rcp_soundz Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at. I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k. 1991 Mazda 323VERY small build thread here: http://www.stevemead...23-small-build/
Watch the bass
200 Watt´s more or less is unintresting in this range. "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley

You're halving the amount of static current draw from things like the onboard EQ alone, then halving the efficiency loss you experience when making the power. BobbyG2
Two amps at 2 ohms each would be more efficient at the same power than 1 amp at 1 ohm. But I'd rather use that money to upgrade my electrical instead. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
MrSkippyJ
If you can't support 1.8k at 1 ohm, I doubt the efficiency gain of 2 amps @2 ohms will help. You are getting more power and saving maybe 5% efficiency depending on what amps.
