Yea seems like the on board fuse should have popped, that's what they are there for I thought :shrug:

If something goes like that it doesn't always draw enough current to blow fuses and it happens VERY quickly, so fast your standard slow-blow won't catch it. Every amps protect mode is activated under different circumstances.

wow... you must've tried to blow it if it went that quickly

LOL. All I did is turn it on.

Got a reply from db-r already. Transformer winding short is suspected. They said it will be $150-$250 to repair, depending how bad it is when they inspect it.

It was like $400 for the full rebuild but the m3 is much smaller so I'm sure its cheaper ....mine protected the first time then when i cut it back on it popped and smoked
