How do i add another battery?

Recommended Posts

Just run a positive 1/0 wire between the two battery's positive terminals and fuse both ends of the wire close to the batterys. And if you have enough wire, run another 1/0 wire from the neg terminals on each battery. So like this:

Batt pos -----fuse-----------------fuse-----batt pos

Batt neg --------------------------------------batt neg

If you dont have enough wire for the neg run, then just ground both batterys with 1/0 to the chassis or frame.

1. Make sure you have an alt that can power both

2. + from front batt to back batt

3. - from front batt to back batt

4. - from back batt to a good ground

Oh ya forget to say fuse the positive on both ends. At least one end

Searching helps a lot. It's soooo easy to do, and you could even search on google. I doubt anyone is going to spoon feed for such an easy subject since there are plenty of write-ups and how-to's of adding another battery properly as well as upgrading your alternator (which you should plan on doing if you plan on pushing a lot of power)

Fusing just one end is totally pointless, if you have a positive wire in between two batteries, and only fuse one end and the wire shorts somewhere, the un-fused battery will burn up the wire and probobly burn your car to the ground. You MUST fuse both ends to protect the wire from overloading in case of a short.
